Motorcycle Theory Test Centres

Motorcycle theory tests must be taken at a designated DVSA testing facility. There are over 80 centres in the UK, so we can always match you with the closest motorcycle theory test centre.

To be able to quality for your theory test pass certificate, you must pass both parts of the two-part motorcycle examination on the same day.

You must bring either both halves of your new style driving licence or your old style driving licence and your passport for identification on the day of the test.

The first step is to ensure that you have a valid driver’s license. If you do not have a license, you will need to obtain one before you can register for the motorcycle theory test. The second step is to find a testing center near you. You can use the DVSA’s online search tool to find your nearest centre. Once you have found a center, you will need to book an appointment for your test.

You can book your motorcycle theory test up to six weeks in advance or as little as three days before the date of the test. It is advisable to book early, as appointments can fill up quickly, especially during busy periods. When booking, you will need to provide your UK driving license number or your passport number.

On the day of the test, you will need to arrive at the testing center 30 minutes before your appointment time. You must also bring with you both halves of your driving license or your old style license and your passport. Personal items are not allowed in the examination area, but lockers are available for storage.

The motorcycle theory test is made up of two parts: a multiple choice quiz and a hazard perception test. You will need to pass both parts in order to receive your theory test pass certificate. The quiz consists of 50 questions and you will have 45 minutes to complete it. For the hazard perception test, you will be shown 14 short video clips and you will need to identify potential hazards as quickly as possible. You will have 57 minutes to complete this part of the test.

You must pass both parts of the motorcycle theory test in order to receive your theory test pass certificate. The pass certificate is valid for two years and allows you to take the practical driving test. If you do not pass, you can retake the test as many times as necessary. There is a charge for each attempt.
